Dallas Trinity FC played its first game, but their coach wasn't there. Here's why.

Pauline MacDonald was hired to be the club's first coach, but getting stateside has been an issue for the Scottish skipper.

DALLAS — Dallas Trinity FC kicked off their season last weekend in a 1-1 draw against Tampa Bay Sun FC on the road.

The club took the lead right before the half, but let up an equalizer in the middle of the second half. Grabbing a tie on the road is a solid outing for the club's first match together, especially given the fact that their coach was not at the game.

Former Scotland Women's National Team player Pauline MacDonald was hired as the club's head coach in June, but was not on the sidelines for the first USL Super League match as she continues to work to get her visa approved, according to the game broadcast on Peacock.

Instead, the team was coached by General Manager/Acting Head Coach Chris Petrucelli, who has coaching experience with the SMU Mustangs (2012-2022) and NWSL club Chicago Red Stars (2022-2023). He stood in place for MacDonald as she is still working to get her visa approved.

Dallas Trinity FC will play before home fans for the first time in Cotton Bowl Stadium on Aug. 30 in a friendly match against world-renowned club FC Barcelona. The club's first USL Super League home match is set for Sept. 7 against DC Power FC.
