DALLAS — It appears Nathaniel Lowe's two-run home run in the sixth inning was the final straw.
That jack upped the Rangers' lead in Game 7 of the 2023 American League Championship Series to (at that point) 10-2 over Texas' hated in-state rival Houston Astros. And, while that wasn't the final score in the Rangers' World Series-clinching road win at Minute Maid Park, Houston fans figured it might as well have been.
Because that's when world-renowned Astros fans -- who'd spent hundreds, if not thousands, for the privilege of attending the game -- started streaming for the exits, fully giving up on their 2023 team's postseason dreams.
Yeesh. Hey, anything to beat that legendary late-night Monday Houston traffic, right?
The scene was, well, a little different a few hours up Interstate 45 at Globe Life Field in Arlington for the Rangers' official Game 7 watch party. There, jubilant Texas fans could be found -- you guessed it -- jubilantly singing along to Creed.
The Rangers would go on to win Monday night's game 11-4 -- a fact the below Astros fans at Minute Maid Park on Monday simply could not process.
The Rangers will next face the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2023 World Series.
The D-backs won their own win-and-you're-in Game 7 over the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS on Tuesday night to make the fall classic matchup official.
The Rangers will have home field advantage in the best-of-seven series, which will kick off at Globe Life Field in Arlington on Friday, Oct. 27.
