HOUSTON — With their 5-4 win over the Houston Astros in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series on Monday, the Texas Rangers are now in firm control of their own postseason destiny.
The team now boasts a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series, having won the two Houston-hosted games to open the matchup. Now, they'll head home to Arlington, where they'll host the next three games of the ALCS, starting with Wednesday night's Game 3 contest.
Rangers fans, justifiably, are over the moon with the way this series has kicked off.
But Astros fans? Yeesh.
After having mocked Rangers fans for their "We want Houston" chants after the ALDS, and warning their in-state rivals to be careful what they wished for, Astros supporters are down bad at this point.
But you don't have to take our word for it.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then the shots captured by Associated Press photographers of sad Astros fans at Minute Made Park during Game 2 are worth a novel.
Ever heard of the 'Surrender Cobra' pose? Well, by the time time Game 2 wrapped up on Monday, plenty among the Astros set inadvertently found themselves doing it.
Hey, anything to keep them from banging on trash cans, we guess!
The first pitch of Game 3 in the ALCS will arrive at 7:03 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Arlington's Globe Life Field.
It will be just the second home game of the playoffs thus far for the Rangers, who have yet to lose a single game in the 2023 postseason.
Rangers ace Max Scherzer, back from an injury that was initially thought to end his season, will start the game on the mound for the home team.
