DALLAS — 64 teams will compete for the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship, and nine hail from the great state of Texas!

Of those nine, five were seeded: Texas, Texas A&M, SMU, TCU and Baylor. The unseeded teams are UT Arlington, UTEP, Texas State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The teams were placed in the official bracket on Sunday, and tournament play starts on Thursday. The first and second rounds run from Dec. 5-7, where teams will compete for a chance at regionals (Dec. 12-15). From there, they advance to the semifinals (Dec. 19).

Finally, two teams will advance to the National Championship game, which airs Sunday, Dec. 22, on ABC.

Last season, Texas took the title, beating national powerhouse Nebraska 3-0. Out of the Texas teams competing this year, No. 2 SMU earned the highest seed after a historic season. This year marked many firsts for SMU, including a 3-0 win against Nebraska and breaking into the top 25 for the first time in program history.
