IRVING, Texas — A major crash and diesel spill shut down westbound Texas 183 in Irving on Friday morning, police said.
The crash, which was reported by police around 9 a.m., shut down the highway from Carl Road to O'Connor, according to the Irving Police Department.
The southbound exit to Loop 12 was also shut down as a result of the crash.
More details on how the crash happened was not yet available.
Police said a cleanup was expected to take "some time" and that drivers should be prepared for delays the rest of the morning and into the afternoon.
This was the third major shutdown of the morning in North Texas. A motorcycle crash closed the Dallas North Tollway at Loop 12 in both directions for several hours. In Bedford, Texas 183 eastbound was shut down after an oil spill following a crash.
