Thunderstorms bring slight cooldown from North Texas heat

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are in effect for some counties until 11:30 a.m.

DALLAS — Sunday rain is bringing a little bit of a cool-off for North Texas and it's triple-digit heat.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Delta, Fannin, and Lamar Counties until 11:30 a.m.

Shortly before 10 a.m., WFAA Daybreak anchor Marc Istook and viewer Stephen Spainhouer shared videos of rain out in Fort Worth and McKinney respectively.

Thanks to morning rain and lingering clouds, temps Sunday afternoon should be below 100° for most places. The exception will be southern North Texas where rain and cloud cover is less likely, so temps will climb to at or around 100°.

Heading through the afternoon into evening, any showers or storms will move east with most places drying out during the afternoon.

This will be our last break before we have to deal with triple-digit heat throughout the week.
