DALLAS — With temperatures set to remain below freezing through Wednesday after Monday’s coating of snow, some North Texas municipalities are making changes to their operations Tuesday.
Dallas
Dallas officials initially said it would reschedule Tuesday's trials but now all Dallas County offices and courts will resume normal operations Tuesday. The municipal court customer service window will also be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The brutally cold temperatures are creating problems underground at the Dallas County Medical Examiner's office. Officials told WFAA that the building's pipes froze overnight, and with no running water, they couldn't perform autopsies.
County Administrator Darryl Martin says temporary heaters were put in place, and the Dallas County Medical Examiners Office was able to perform autopsies as of Tuesday with most other staff working from home as repairs are made.
The building is located at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science. Late this afternoon, the building restored the water, and they hope to resume autopsies on Wednesday morning.
The Garland Government Center will be closed on Tuesday.
Fort Worth
All Fort Worth residential garbage collections will shift by one day.
Plano
Plano will delay opening recreation centers and libraries until 10 a.m. All other city facilities will open at normal times.
Richardson
Richardson’s two recreation centers will have a two-hour delayed start and open 8 a.m. Tuesday.
North Richland Hills
Jurors summoned to the North Richland Hills municipal court at 9 a.m. Tuesday are excused. For questions, email nrhcourt@nrhtx.com. Residential garbage and recycling collections are also canceled for Tuesday. The Richland Tennis Center and Iron Horse Golf Course will also be closed.
City offices and facilities will open at normal times Tuesday.
Hurst
Republic Services won’t run routes for residential garbage collection Tuesday. Recycling routes will be suspended until their normal collection day next week.
