FORT WORTH, Texas — American Airlines is set to expand its wings with the launch of a new year-round service from North Texas to Mexico.
Beginning next year, American Airlines passengers will have the option to fly from Dallas-Fort Worth Airport (DFW) to Tampico International Airport (TAM) along Mexico’s Gulf Coast.
The Fort Worth-based air carrier offers more flights and serves more destinations in Mexico than any other U.S. airline, the company said. It’s the airline's 29th destination in Mexico.
"The destination joins a robust schedule of more than 815 weekly flights to the country next year," the carrier said in a news release.
The new route to Tampico will be flown on an Embraer 170 aircraft with space for up to 65 passengers.
“We’re excited to continue expanding our network of more than 230 worldwide destinations we serve directly from DFW,” said Jim Moses, American Airlines Senior Vice President of DFW Operations. “American is proud to operate as the largest U.S. airline in Mexico, and to give our customers this direct access to family, business and leisure destinations across the country.”
Tickets for this new flight will be available starting Monday, Sept. 16 on aa.com and American’s mobile app.
Earlier this year, the airline announced two new destination routes to Mexico from DFW, including service to Tulum (TQO) and to Veracruz (VER).
