Dalvin Cook is signing with Dallas Cowboys, team source says

NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported "Cook will ramp up initially on the practice squad and familiarize himself with the system before being activated."

DALLAS — The Dallas Cowboys have added more legs to its running back room with the addition of veteran Dalvin Cook.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero broke the news of Cook's signing Wednesday morning, and a front office source confirmed the signing to WFAA.

Cook joins a running back group featuring Ezekiel Elliot, Rico Dowdle and Deuce Vaughn. The signing comes after Cowboys front office sources confirmed to WFAA on Tuesday that Cook had flown in for a workout.

Cook, who spent the 2023-2024 season with the New York Jets, is coming off a season in which he saw a huge drop off in production, carrying the ball 67 times for 214 yards.

Prior to last season, however, Cook spent six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings where he rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his final four years with the team.

Pelissero reported "Cook will ramp up initially on the practice squad and familiarize himself with the system before being activated."
