DALLAS — The Dallas Cowboys are flying in four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook tonight for a presumed meeting, team front office sources confirmed with WFAA.
Cook, who spent the 2023-2024 season with the New York Jets, is coming off a season in which he saw a huge drop off in production, carrying the ball 67 times for 214 yards.
Prior to last season, however, Cook spent six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings where he rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his final four years with the team.
The Cowboys, who re-signed Ezekiel Elliott following the departure of Tony Pollard this offseason, have been approaching the season with a "running back by committee" approach.
Though still somewhat in flux, that "committee" is currently comprised of veteran Elliott, Rico Dowdle and either Malik Davis, Deuce Vaughn or Royce Freeman.
Adding a 29-year-old Cook to the fold could prove to be a significant factor in the Cowboys' running game this season.
But, in an offseason filled with all sorts of contract drama, Cowboys fans maybe shouldn't hold their breath.
On the other hand, if this video shared earlier today by NFL insider Tom Pelissero as he initially broke the news is any indication, Cook looks like he's worked himself back into pretty great shape this offseason.
