DALLAS — Jerry Jones owns the most valuable franchise in sports, a $250 million yacht and more properties and businesses than he could likely count.
But he's not too far removed from his Arkansas roots to scoff at the prospect of a rural delicacy: A good ol' helping of raccoon, with a side of squirrel.
The "Shan and RJ" crew over at 105.3 The Fan had Jones on his weekly radio appearance Tuesday and brought up the viral comments from Panthers receiver Xavier Legette, who last week talked up one of his favorite meals, raccoon.
Jones quickly had an answer when asked if he'd tried the wild game.
"I've eaten a lot of raccoon," the Arkansas-bred billionaire revealed. "Yes. The answer's yes. I've eaten it hunting. I've actually had it served by mom at the table ... it's not uncommon at all."
Jones also liked another countrified dish, maybe even more than raccoon: Squirrel.
"It's wonderful," Jones said, "and my mother could do a great job of it."
Apparently, the most desired portion of the squirrel was the brain, which always got scooped up by Jones' dad or sister.
"Delicious," Jones said. "Seriously."
