DALLAS — Being an NFL fan in the streaming era is expensive, as the NFL brokers deals with numerous different platforms to carry games.
Ahead of the season schedule release, the NFL announced that Netflix would carry the league's Christmas Day games. With that said, the NFL has games airing on over-the-air broadcast (FOX, CBS, ESPN) and well as a number of streaming platforms (Amazon Prime, Peacock, Netflix).
Here is a look at the cost of all the different services you'll need:
Cable / local over-the-air broadcast
Most Dallas Cowboys games will be offered over-the-air locally on FOX, CBS and ESPN. To view these games, you'll need a cable provider. Here are a few options:
- Spectrum: $64.99 per month
- DirecTv: $69.99 per month
- YouTube TV: $72.99 per month
NFL's streaming service partners
There a handful of one-off games this season that'll be exclusively on certain platforms. Here is a breakdown of those:
- Netflix (Christmas Day games): $6.99 per month (with ads) or $15.49 per month (without ads)
- Peacock (Week 1 season-opener Philadelphia Eagles vs. Green Bay Packers): $5.99 per month
- ESPN+ (International series): $10.99 per month
- Prime Video (Thursday Night Football, Wild Card round game): $8.99 per month (video service only) or can be bundled with Amazon Prime for $14.99 per month
Adding in NFL Sunday Ticket for out-of-market Cowboys fans
If you don't live in the DFW area, in Texas, or most of Oklahoma, the Cowboys won't be your local broadcasted game. For out-of-market Cowboys fans, you'll need the NFL Sunday Ticket, which is only available on YouTube. There is a YouTube bundle and standalone option if you have another cable provider:
- YouTube TV + Sunday Ticket bundle: Four payments of $44.75 per month or $179 total (on sale from four payments of $87.25 or $349 for full season)
- NFL Sunday Ticket only: Four payments of $87.25 per month or $349 total (on sale from four payments of $112.25 per month or $449 total)
How much will it cost to watch all Cowboys games?
To watch every single NFL game of the season until the Super Bowl (or have the option to), you'll need the NFL Sunday ticket, six months of your cable provider, five months of Prime Video and one month each of Peacock, ESPN+ and Netflix comes out to a grand total of $807.86, before taxes.
What about just the Cowboys games? Dallas kicks off their season on Sept. 8 against the Cleveland Browns on FOX. For a full look at the Cowboys' schedule, click here.
You're going to need a cable service (or Sunday Ticket for out-of-market fans) for four months and Amazon Prime for one month.
Given all the prices stated above, here is the cheapest option for in-market and out-of-market Cowboys fans -- and note, this does not include if you have the "rabbit ears" over-the-air antenna, in which case you can watch network games for free, minus the cost of purchasing the antenna. But if you're not going through the process of setting up, here's what you'll have to pay:
In-market:
- $268.95-$300.95 (four months of any cable provider + one month of Prime Video)
Out-of-market:
- With YouTube TV bundle: $479.95 (four months of YouTube TV + NFL Sunday ticket bundle pricing + one month of Prime Video)
- With a different cable provider + NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube separately: $617.95 (four months of Spectrum + NFL Sunday Ticket only package with YouTube + one month of Prime Video)
