Quinn Ewers named an early favorite to win 2024 Heisman Trophy

One sportsbook has Ewers tied with Georgia quarterback Carson Beck for the highest odds to win college football's top individual award.

AUSTIN, Texas — The 2023 college football season may have just ended, but an incredible 2023 campaign – paired with a bevy of high-end, incoming talent – has given Texas Longhorns fans a reason for excitement and anticipation ahead of the 2024 season.

And it would seem that the fanbase isn't alone in sharing those high expectations for the 2024 Longhorns.

According to a report from college sports website On3, the sportsbook FanDuel has given Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers the highest odds to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy. Ewers sits at +750 odds, tied with Georgia quarterback Carson Beck at the top of the list.

While Heisman projections in January are almost entirely inconsequential, as the race and odds change constantly throughout the season, it is notable that Ewers sits atop those odds as offseason practices are soon to get underway.

In recent years, early Heisman projections have usually been given to either the nation's top quarterbacks or quarterbacks who play for what are believed to be the nation's best teams. Both Texas and Georgia are projected to be among the top teams in the sport ahead of the 2024 season.

Ewers opted to return to the Longhorns in 2024, foregoing an opportunity to enter the 2024 NFL Draft. His return, paired with a number of high-end additions through the transfer portal and a recruiting class that consistently ranks among the top in the nation, has resulted in serious national championship aspirations for the Longhorns ahead of the 2024 season.

But the road to a national championship will be brutal. The Longhorns will face defending national champion Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Sep. 7, as well as Beck and preseason favorite Georgia on Oct. 15 – one week after facing Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry in Dallas on Oct. 8.

The new-look Longhorns will take the field for the first time in the Orange-White Spring Game on April 20.
