Dallas Mavericks' Luka Doncic (77) and Kyrie Irving (11) celebrate during the second half of the team's NBA basketball game against the Brooklyn Nets.

DALLAS — We had a "sportsigami" this weekend in Dallas-Fort Worth, and boy did they have a hot start.

The Rangers walked off the Diamondbacks in Game 1 of the World Series, thanks to a 11th inning hoome run from Adolis "El Bombi" Garcia. What a game that was.

Almost simultaneously, Luka Doncic dealt some "Luka magic" in the Mavericks 125-120 win to improve to 2-0, courtesy of a wild one-handed three late in the game. And yes, Luka called the bank, so he says.

With those two alone, Dallas Mavericks radio play-by-play voice Chuck Cooperstein went as far as saying Friday could have been the single greatest night in DFW sports history. If you agree with Cooperstein, well, it must be even more so now because the weekend has continued to show out for local teams.

At halftime on Saturday, SMU led Tulsa 52-3 ... yes. A 49-point led at halftime.

Quarterback Preston Stone was 15-of-20 for 371 passing yards and three touchdowns. The Mustangs had three rushing touchdowns, as well, courtesy of Jaylan Knighton, Camar Wheaton and Tyler Lavine. Plus, safety Isaiah Nwokobia returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown.

SMU went on to beat Tulsa 69-10.

And we haven't even got to the Cowboys, who play the Rams on Sunday, or FC Dallas, who begin their best-of-three series against Seattle Sounders on Monday. The Stars have started out hot, too, with a 4-1-1 record and play against the Blue Jackets on Monday.

The Rangers will look to improve to 2-0 in the World Series Saturday night in Globe Life Field with Jordan Montgomery on the bump.

We're only two days into this weekend of "DFW sportsigami" and it's been pretty dominant. Let's just hope it stays that way.
