'HE SAVED US': What the Rangers said after late-game World Series heroics

Bruce Bochy, Corey Seager and Adolis Garcia talked about the walk-off win over the Diamondbacks on Friday night.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Adolis Garcia hit a walk-off home run in extra innings, after Corey Seager tied the game with a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth.

And the Rangers are now up 1-0 in the World Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Here's what Rangers manager Bruce Bochy had to say after the game, alongside his two playoff heroes:

Bruce Bochy postgame

On Seager's emotion after hitting game-tying homer

"We did see that same emotion in Houston. He might have turned it up a notch tonight. It's hard to hit a bigger homer than he did there. Down two in the ninth. He saved us there. You could see it in him. He got everybody fired up. I mean, just a great job."

On how Game 1 compared to previous wins in his career

"It's right up there at the top. That was a great game. Entertaining game. Great ballgame. We had some chances out there but couldn't quite get that big hit. But late we did. We got the big home run. Leo [Leody Taveras], you gotta mention him. Great job drawing that walk [in the ninth]. You're hoping to get somebody on. He did that for us. But yeah, that's right up there at the top."

On Adolis Garcia's opposite-field home run to win it

"He's done such a great job of that [going the opposite way]. We saw him in the last series, we saw it toward the end of the season. He's doing such a great job of controlling his emotions, so to speak. He's not over swinging, and he's staying under control. And that's fun to watch when he does that."

On his bullpen pitching scoreless innings

"I can't say enough about what they did. I don't know where to start with all of them. And some of them hadn't been out there in a while and rose to the occasion, to hold them there. You're down two runs. You want to keep it close and give yourself a chance to get back in it, which is what happened, and that's because of that bullpen. We used a lot of guys, and they all came through for us. A terrific job. I don't wanna leave anybody out because they all did a great job."

Corey Seager postgame

On Adolis Garcia game-winning homer

"Special players step out in moments like that. And he's done it all throughout the season for us. It's been extremely fun to watch and extremely fun to be apart of."

On his ninth-inning homer to tie it and swinging on the first pitch

"Just excitement. This is fun. This is the playoffs. This is what it's all about. A cool moment for sure.

"Those guys are good...you never just wanna give them a strike. So you never know if the one you're supposed to move for is the first one, so you always want to be ready."

Adolis Garcia postgame

On his teammates' support

"During the game, my teammates are in the dugout, they're pumping me up, they're helping me out. But once I'm in that batter's box, it's just me and the pitcher. I kind of tune everything out, even though they're still there providing support for me."

On his walk-off homer

"Very happy. Grateful. Just giving thanks to God for giving me this opportunity. I think any time you have the chance to be in such a select group of players, especially Latinos and Cubans, it's always a proud thing."

"I felt that I hit it well. but it was a ball hit to the opposite field, so when that happens I just have to make sure I run out of home plate and run the bases."
