DALLAS — In addition to airing every game of the 2024 NBA Finals on our station, WFAA is also hosting a special presentation called "The Pregame" before each and every matchup in the series. Head here for more information.

In Dallas mayor Eric Johnson's newest bet, he's pitting surf against turf.

Mayor Johnson has entered a bet with Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, and a ton of food is on the line.

If the Mavericks win the NBA Finals, Boston will have to send 18 gallons of clam chowder and 18 pounds of lobster rolls to Dallas from Legal Sea Foods. Mayor Wu chose 18 to represent the number of Celtics championship banners Boston would have if they won it all this year.

Boston's also throwing in some cookies and brownies from Sweet Teez Bakery in Dorchester, MA.

If Boston wins, Mayor Johnson will be sending a whole brisket, one rack of beef ribs and a dozen sausage links from Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum.

Pecan Lodge says they're happy to oblige in the wager, but they don't think they'll be sending any barbecue up north. "While we’d be happy to send our award winning smoked brisket, beef ribs and hand made sausage to Mayor Wu, we’re confident it will be for a reason other than a Celtics win in the NBA finals," said Justin Fourton, owner of Pecan Lodge.

"We’ll place our bet on the Mavs and Luka over 'Luck' anytime."

This year, Mayor Johnson holds a 2-1 record against other mayors between the NBA and NHL playoffs. In his wins, he's bringing in a belt buckle, courtesy of Denver's mayor, and chocolate from the mayor of Minneapolis.
