DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks take on the New Orleans Pelicans at 7:30 p.m. CT Tuesday on WFAA and KFAA! Not sure how to watch? Here's a breakdown on how to tune in – and guarantee you get the clearest signal possible of the broadcast.
The Dallas Mavericks host their first NBA Cup game of the 2024-25 season against the New Orleans Pelicans, so things will look a little different.
The game will be simulcasted on both WFAA (Ch. 8) and KFAA (Ch. 29) at 7:30 p.m. following a 7 p.m. pre-game show. If you watch the game, you'll notice the court will be blue. This is because Tuesday night's game is designated as an "NBA Cup game."
What is the NBA Cup? Why is the Dallas Mavericks court blue?
This is the second season of the annual in-season tournament. In the inaugural tournament last year, the Los Angeles Lakers hoisted the in-season trophy after beating the Indiana Pacers in the championship game.
There are a total of 67 games in group play and knockout rounds – all of which count towards the 82-game regular season schedule so teams aren't playing extra games. When the Mavericks host these types of games, the court will look like this:

Dallas Mavericks vs. New Orleans Pelicans
Dallas (7-7) is riding a two-game win streak after nearly escaping a comeback by the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Mavericks held on to win 121-119 without star guard Luka Doncic. P.J. Washington picked up his play, however, posting 27 points and 17 rebounds against OKC.
New Orleans (4-10) have lost seven of their last eight games, with their last win coming in their NBA Cup group stage opener against the Denver Nuggets on Friday. Pelicans star forward Zion Williamson has been missing in the last five games. Williamson will also not be available against Dallas, according to reports.
