DALLAS — On Monday night, for the third time in franchise history, the Texas Rangers won the pennant!
And, thanks to the efforts of some committed retailers across North Texas, fans can fall asleep the very same night that their team punched their World Series ticket while wearing Rangers-branded American League champions merchandise.
Academy Sports + Outdoors and Dick's Sporting Goods stores across North Texas have confirmed to WFAA their plans to stay open later than usual to sell Rangers championship merch after the team won Game 7 of the American League Championship Series in Houston on Monday night.
A full 23 Academy Sports + Outdoors locations will be open "until they sell out -- or a reasonable hour -- for fans to get all the gear they want," a spokesperson for the sporting goods chain told WFAA. You can see the full list of participating locations here.
Meanwhile, all 12 North Texas locations of Dick's Sporting Goods will also be open until "around midnight" or their gear has sold out, a Dick's spokesperson said to WFAA on Monday evening.
Representatives from both Academy and Dick's also confirmed that all of their area locations will be opening their stores early on Tuesday -- starting at 7 a.m. -- to sell additional shipments of gear the retailers expect to receive overnight.
Plano-based JCPenny also has Rangers' merchandise in stores and online. That includes t-shirts, hats, beanies, hoodies, and polos.
The Rangers will next face the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2023 World Series. The D-backs won their own win-and-you're-in Game 7 over the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS on Tuesday night to make the fall classic matchup official.
The Rangers will have home field advantage in the best-of-seven series, which will kick off at Globe Life Field in Arlington on Friday, Oct. 27.
