Is Dallas home to the best radio station in the country? A national award says so

The staple of North Texas sports talk took home the Marconi Award for Major Market Station of the Year at the National Association of Broadcasters show Wednesday.

DALLAS — "The Ticket" is officially the top radio station in the country.

The staple of North Texas sports talk – 96.7 FM/1310 AM The Ticket – took home the Marconi Award for Major Market Station of the Year at the National Association of Broadcasters show Wednesday night.

The Ticket's top prize was for all categories of radio, not just sports talk. The Ticket, which celebrated its 30th anniversary as a station this year, has taken home Marconi Awards in the sports talk division several times over the years.

"Wow," longtime Ticket morning host Gordon Keith posted on X. "Just got word that the Little Ticket won the Marconi for 2024 Major Market Station of the Year! That's huge for a sports station to beat all the 'real' stations in the broad category. Congrats to the whole Ticket team and to you, the beautiful P1's!!"

Keith's fellow Morning Muser host Craig Miller called the honor "the biggest award in our business!"

The Ticket wasn't the only North Texas station featured among the honorees Wednesday night. Erica Campbell at Reach Media/Urban One won Network/Syndicated Personality of the Year, and Rachel Ryan at KSCS-FM won Major Market Personality of the Year.
