DALLAS — The Stars are moving to their new Victory+ streaming app. And they're taking The Ticket with them.
Sportsradio 96.7 FM/1310 AM The Ticket, the longtime staple of the Dallas sports talk scene, will be available on the Stars' new streaming platform beginning Sept. 25, the team announced at the Victory+ launch party Wednesday evening.
The Ticket will still be available on its website and The Dallas Morning News' SportsDayDFW streaming app. It's not yet clear if The Ticket broadcasts on Victory+ will include video, or just the audio feed.
In any case, The Ticket's involvement with Victory+ seemed to be a natural fit -- the station has broadcasted Stars games since 2009, including pregame, intermission and postgame shows.
“The synergy that The Ticket on Victory+ provides our fans is unmatched in the sports industry,” Stars president and CEO Brad Alberts said in a release. “Our fans are now able to consume even more Dallas Stars content however and whenever is convenient for them. The Ticket has become synonymous with our hockey team, and this is just another chapter in our strong relationship.”
Dan Bennett, The Ticket's Cumulus Media vice president, called the partnership an "expanded digital distribution of The Ticket that makes it easily available" to DFW sports fans.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to expand upon our lengthy relationship with the Stars and benefit from the industry-leading technology that APMC brings to the table," Bennett said.
Victory+ will be the new television home for the Stars this season, the team announced earlier this summer. Fans can download the app and watch all of the Stars' games for free.
The seven-year agreement with Victory+ came on the heels of the team officially parting ways with longtime partner network Bally Sports Southwest, the parent company of which, Diamond Sports Group, has been going through bankruptcy proceedings.
VICTORY+ is headed up by Jason Walsh, the Dallas Stars Vice President of Broadcasting and a former FOX Sports Executive Producer. The Stars -- known for their "victory green" color scheme -- were VICTORY+'s first team partner. The streaming service plans to work with "other like-minded professional sports teams and leagues" in the future.
