Fort Worth Police investigating a shooting that led to 2 crashes, officials say

A shooting between two groups led to two crashes, injuring several people. The incident occurred a short distance from the Stockyards, the second this weekend.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A conflict that started in a nightclub led to a shooting between two groups, causing a crash just blocks away from the Fort Worth Stockyards, police said.

Officers responded to a shooting call around 11:18 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6 near 2400 Salisbury Ave, several blocks away from the Stockyards, according to a press release from the Fort Worth Police Department.

Police found that two large groups of people got into a fight at a club near 2550 N.E. 30th Street. One of the groups was asked to leave but later returned and another fight ensured, police said. Both groups got into their vehicles and the occupants of a gray Dodge Charger shot at occupants of a white SUV, the release states.

The Charger fled the scene, crashing into an electric pole nearby, police said. Officers followed and the driver was arrested. The car's passenger ran away, but was arrested and taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Everyone else involved in the shooting and subsequent crash was treated on the scene and released, police said.

The shooting is the second incident involving gun violence in the Stockyards area this weekend. An 18-year-old was killed early Sunday morning on in the 100 block of NW 24th Street, police said. Officers arrested a 19-year-old in connection to that shooting.

A police patrol unit was also involved in a crash while en route to the scene, police said. The officer and occupant of the other vehicle were treated and released with no injuries, according to the release.
