FORT WORTH, Texas — One person was killed and several other victims were injured in a shooting near Fort Worth's historic Stockyards, police said.
Officers responded to a shooting call on Sunday, Oct. 6 in the 100 block of NW 24th Street, according to a press release from Fort Worth Police. Upon arrival, police found multiple shooting victims, one victim was pronounced dead on the scene, officials said.
The victim was later identified as 18-year-old Joseph Padilla. Weatherford ISD confirmed Tuesday that Padilla was a student at Weatherford High School.
"We notified high school parents and staff of our student’s passing on Sunday and let them know that we would have additional counselors available at the high school on Monday," Weatherford ISD said in a statement.
Other shooting victims were transported to a local hospital and are expected to survive, police said.
Officers arrested a suspect in connection with the crime at 2:29 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. Kevin Aguilar, 19, is charged with murder.
Homicide detectives are investigating the incident, police said.
