LEWISVILLE, Texas — Denton County residents can now cool off at Lewisville Lake Park again.

The City of Lewisville announced the park will partially reopen on Saturday, Aug. 10.

The park had been closed since May 31 because of high water levels and storm damage. Officials also said the rising water level had made it difficult for vehicle traffic coming into Lake Park.

The park will be open on Saturdays and Sundays, and only for day use with limited parking. The city said once the park reaches capacity, the park will close for the day.

The boat ramps at Lake Park will remain closed, but boaters can use the Tower Bay Boat Ramp to access the lake.

Park officials want lake visitors and parkgoers to realize the risk of high lake levels following several drowning deaths across the DFW metroplex. They warn people not to let their guard down, especially if they are familiar with the lay of the land.

The usual tollbooth entry is not accessible due to ongoing flood damage cleanup, the city said. Visitors are asked to use the temporary entry at the east end of Lake Park Road.
