DALLAS — Dallas firefighters returned to a vacant school building Tuesday night, where smoke billowed and flames reignited for the third time within three months.
Just after 6:30 p.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 3400 block of S. Beckley Ave., the former campus of the Maya Angelou High School.
The vacant building is well-known to fire crews. They’ve battled at least two fires there within recent weeks.
"The location is the same place where fires were reported on September 26 and October 13; both of which remain undetermined," DFR said in a news release.
Fire crews reported smoke coming from a two-story building when they arrived on the scene. The portion of the building that caught fire on Tuesday wasn’t destroyed or demolished as a result of the previous two fires, DFR said.
No one was found inside the building, officials said, and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters found multiple hot spots inside the building and will monitor and work to put them out throughout the night.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
