Police release video showing chase with murder suspect from Richardson to Dallas

The dashcam video, which is just over three minutes, shows a Richardson officer chasing the suspect vehicle Sept. 16.

RICHARDSON, Texas — Police Saturday released video showing a police chase earlier this week through Richardson and Dallas with a murder suspect who fired at officers. The chase ultimately ended with the suspect’s suicide, according to police.

The dashcam video, which is just over three minutes, shows a Richardson officer beginning to chase the vehicle on Sept. 16. Police say the vehicle was connected to a murder in Kaufman County. The dash cam video shows the suspect vehicle speeding through an intersection and weaving through traffic.

An officer can be heard in the video saying speeds reached 90 mph on Spring Valley Road before the suspect, later identified as Donald Ingram, turned southbound onto Esperanza Road. Shortly thereafter, an officer can be heard shouting, “Shots fired!” as police say Ingram fired at officers from the moving vehicle and the officer appeared to return fire.

The video shows the officer stopping at a stop sign before multiple gunshots were fired at the police vehicle, breaking the windshield. The officer followed the vehicle, which had stopped in the southbound frontage road of the 13100 block of North Central Expressway in Dallas.

Police say three passengers, aged 5, 15, and 17, got out of the vehicle unharmed but investigators told WFAA Ingram shot a woman in the front passenger seat before turning the gun on himself, which caused the vehicle to veer off the road and stop in the frontage road.

Richardson identified the woman as 40-year-old Sherrie Moore.

Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter footage showed officers providing first aid to Ingram.

Police say Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and Ingram was pronounced dead, police say. The officer was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to police, and the officer wasn’t injured.

Ingram, family members told WFAA, was wanted in the murder of his wife, Michelle Ingram.

The officer who fired shots was placed on administrative leave, police say.

The Dallas Police Department and the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the shooting.
