DALLAS — Yet another fire has broken out at an abandoned Dallas ISD school, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.
For the fifth time in three months, Dallas firefighters are working to put out a blaze at 3313 S. Beckley Ave., the former campus of the Maya Angelou High School.
According to DFR, they got the call around 7 p.m. on Tuesday about the fire at the vacant campus. Since arriving, firefighters have escalated the response to a three-alarm fire, prompting 60-70 firefighters to respond, according to DFR.
This is firefighters' fifth time battling a blaze at this location since September. According to DFR, crews put out fires at the former DISD school on Sept. 26, Oct. 13, Nov. 19, Dec. 2 and Dec. 3.
DFR told WFAA those fires have left the structural integrity of the building in question in some places. DFR also claimed that the former school is in the process of being abated and demolished.
According to fire officials, no one was inside when crews arrived and no injuries have been reported.
