Want to live like Shaq? One of the NBA legend's North Texas homes is on the market

Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal looks to be selling one of his North Texas homes.

CARROLLTON, Texas — Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal is looking to sell one of his homes in North Texas.

The NBA legend and TNT “Inside the NBA” analyst’s 5,269-square-foot Carrollton home that he bought in 2022 is back on the market for just under $1.7 million.

The Carrollton home in the Gates of Prestonwood community, listed by Zac Gideo with Rogers Healy and Associates Real Estate, was built in 2005 and has five bedrooms, five full baths and two half baths. Amenities include a “moody cigar lounge-esque library with a tiered ceiling,” a fireplace and a wall of windows with a view of the pool.

Gideo helped O’Neal buy the Carrollton home in 2022 and announced the sale on Instagram.

The trust that was used to buy O’Neal’s Carrollton home recently acquired a 4,670-square-foot home in Rockwall County, county property records show.

The move could explain why Shaq has been spotted around Rockwall County recently, rather than around Carrollton.

He was spotted at a Raising Cane’s, Walmart and Home Depot in the area, according to social media posts, which show O’Neal posing for photos with fans.

O’Neal, or at least the trust he’s bought other homes under, bought the Rockwall County home in April, according to property records. The Mediterranean-style home is in the Ridge Lakes development in Heath near Lake Ray Hubbard.

Since moving to North Texas in 2022, he’s gotten involved in community events, including making trips to the Boys and Girls Club in Dallas and speaking at a fundraiser for the St. Philip’s School and Community Center.

O’Neal has previously told local media that he’s “always had a great time” in Dallas, and the Carrollton home served as a temporary home he could use as a “midway point” to rest between business trips to the West Coast.
