ROCKWALL COUNTY, Texas — Shaquille O'Neal never played for the Dallas Mavericks -- despite, actually, some desire to do so. But he's still a big fan of North Texas, regardless.
The retired NBA legend and TNT "Inside the NBA" analyst purchased a home in Carrollton back in 2022. Now, he's apparently added another location to his North Texas real estate portfolio.
The trust that was used to purchase O'Neal's home in Carrollton recently acquired a 4,670-square-foot home in Rockwall County, according to county property records.
So is Shaq living there now? Maybe.
He was spotted out and about in Rockwall County this past week, including at Walmart and Home Depot, according to social media users. And like we've seen several times with the towering big man, Shaq was more than happy to chat and take pictures with his fans.
Property records indicate O'Neal -- or at least the trust name he's purchased other homes under -- bought his Rockwall County home back in April. The Mediterranean-style home is located in the Ridge Lakes development in Heath, on the east side of Lake Ray Hubbard.
Here's a snippet from the Zillow listing:
"Architectural Marvel in a Multi-Million Dollar Community. Welcome to this stunning residence nestled within the prestigious Ridge Lakes. The impressive drive-up appeal hints at the luxury that awaits beyond the threshold. A harmonious blend of Contemporary Modern Mediterranean architecture. Crafted from stone, stucco, and crowned with a tile roof. Abundant natural light floods the interior."
The house includes a pool with a 500-square-foot pool house/casita. While the sale price wasn't disclosed in the property records, the home's appraised value is listed at around $1.7 million, according to the Rockwall Central Appraisal District.
O'Neal's trust is still listed as the owner of his home in Carrollton, so it's not clear if Shaq is moving to Rockwall County or just adding another home in the area.
One thing is for sure: He feels at home in North Texas. Back in 2022, he was shopping at Best Buy when he ran into a couple that was shopping for a washing machine. O'Neal decided to pick up the bill, and also threw in a 70-inch TV. He's also made trips to the Boys and Girls Club in Dallas, and spoke at a fundraiser for the St. Philip's School and Community Center.
Last year, he told the Dallas Morning News that he's "always had a great time" in Dallas, going back to when he'd visit the city while growing up in San Antonio. When he needed a home base between traveling all over the country, including as DJ Diesel, North Texas was a natural fit.
"Dallas is my midway point when I have to go do business on the West Coast," he told the News. "So, like, I got to do business on the West Coast in two weeks. I’m going to just go stay in Dallas for about a week and just get some rest."
