Dallas Zoo announces new summer hours to help animals and guests alike avoid the heat

Even the king of the jungle needs a break as seasonal hours run from Monday, July 8, through Friday, Aug. 30.

DALLAS — Even the king of the jungle needs to beat the heat in Texas.

The Dallas Zoo announced new summer hours to help visitors, staff and animals minimize exposure to late afternoon heat.

From Monday, July 8, through Friday, Aug. 30, the zoo will open at 8 a.m. and close at 3 p.m. The last ticketed entry during this time period will be at 1 p.m. each day.

The zoo also installed dozens of new, permanent mister fans at six of its major habitats and locations.

For those looking to monkey around at the zoo on a budget, there are two Dollar Days coming up on Thursday, July 18, and Tuesday, Aug. 6. Admission to the zoo is only $1 on those days but the discounted tickets are expected to sell out. Visitors can also find Dollar Day deals on snacks and beverages at special pop-up areas in the zoo on those days. Dollar Day ticket information can be found here.

The Dallas Zoo is located at 650 S. R.L. Thornton Freeway (I-35 at Marsalis Avenue) and is open seven days a week.
