A 16-year-old boy is in the hospital after being shot in a suspected road rage incident, Haltom PD says.

HALTOM CITY, Texas — Two men were arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old in Haltom City after an investigation by local police, the Fort Worth Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, according to the Haltom City Police Department.

The 16-year-old was shot in the early morning hours of Sept. 15 while driving northeast on E. Belknap St. from Bernice Street. Police later identified the teenager as Raul Gonzalez Jr.

Haltom City police reported that the shooting took place between 4:15 and 4:30 a.m. and that four suspects were believed to be driving a sedan, one of them firing at Gonzalez. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to a police statement.

Haltom City PD said detectives began their investigation with only a blurry photo of a suspect vehicle and worked to identify leads in the case. Investigators say they remained determined in their efforts, which eventually led them to identify and locate two suspects.

On Friday, Nov. 8, Haltom City detectives arrested Jasue “Josue” Moreno, 21, at his workplace, police said. Moreno faces charges of murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, police arrested a second suspect, Juan Perez, 21, in Fort Worth with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, according to a statement from Haltom City PD. Perez is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The investigation is ongoing, and police said additional arrests or charges are possible.
