16-year-old shot in suspected early morning road rage shooting

A 16-year-old boy is in the hospital after being shot in a suspected road rage incident, Haltom PD says.

HALTOM CITY, Texas — A North Texas teen is fighting for his life in the hospital after a suspected road rage shooting, according to the Haltom City Police Department.

Police say the 16-year-old victim was shot on Sunday between 4:15 and 4:30 a.m. The teen was driving northeast on E. Belknap St. from Bernice St. when he was shot, according to Haltom City PD. Police say four suspects were believed to be driving a sedan, and one of them fired the shot at the teen.

According to a release from HCPD, the teen is "fighting for his life in a local hospital." Haltom City Police believe this is an isolated incident, and the victim did not know the suspect.

The victim is still in critical condition as of Monday morning Sept. 16, according to police. 

"Our detectives, in collaboration with partner agencies, have been working tirelessly to follow up on leads related to this case," Haltom City Police said in a press release. "We anticipate being able to provide additional updates in the near future."
