BEDFORD, Texas — The Bedford Police Department arrested 26-year-old Aaron Pouchie and charged him with the murder of 79-year-old Christina Barsanti.
According to police, on June 7, officers responded to the 2400 block of Meadow View Lane to the report of an unconscious person.
Upon arrival, police say officers found Barsanti dead inside her home, appearing to have been hit by an unknown object.
According to police, officers reviewed Barsanti's security camera footage and they saw a man approach the door and ring the doorbell.
Police say Barsanti opened the door and spoke with the suspect, who asked to use her phone. However, after she refused, the suspect reportedly pushed his way into her home.
According to police, Bedford officers believed they recognized the suspect from previous interactions with him.
The charge against a 39-year-old man initially believed to be responsible who was arrested in connection with the case was dropped and he was released from custody, police say.
However, just a few days later, Bedford PD announced that detectives were able to get a clearer image of the car used in the crime. Through identifying the car, officers were reportedly able to also identify a second person of interest, Pouchie.
According to police, detectives were able to find the car and Pouchie in Jefferson Parrish, Louisiana on Monday, June 10.
Pouchie was arrested on unrelated charges by Jefferson Parrish Sheriff's Office.
According to police, Bedford detectives were able to get an arrest warrant for Pouchie and charge him with capital murder.
Currently, police say the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office is working through the extradition process to have Pouchie returned to Texas.
The Bedford Police Department says this investigation is still ongoing.
