FORT WORTH, Texas — A man was arrested and charged with murder after allegedly shooting a father and son outside their north Fort Worth home, according to an arrest affidavit.
Fermin Lucio Ramirez and his son, Jacob, were found shot at 1:51 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at their home at 2420 Ross Ave., police said.
An arrest warrant revealed that the shooting occurred after the two men repeatedly asked another group of men to leave their home after a night of drinking, according to the affidavit.
Cameron Cummins, 31, was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder for the shootings of Fermin and Jacob, police said.
The affidavit outlined how the shooting allegedly happened.
Witnesses told investigators that Fermin and Jacob went to a bar with two longtime friends, whose names were redacted in the affidavit. One of the friends brought Cummins, who Ramirez did not know, according to police. The group went to Fermin's and Jacob's home and continued drinking in their front yard.
Around midnight, Fermin picked up a woman whose name was redacted in the document. She recognized one of the Ramirez' friends who works with Cummins at a strip club, the affidavit stated.
Cummins and other members of the group flirted with the unnamed woman "and spoke down to her, which caused everyone to agree the night should end," the release stated.
Fermin and Jacob repeatedly asked Cummins and an unnamed person to leave, but they refused. After being told to leave again by Jacob, Cummins pulled a handgun from his waist and moved toward the father and son before shooting them.
A witness drove Cummins away from the scene before returning to speak to police, according to the affidavit.
Cummins "was asked to leave 2420 Ross multiple times, by multiple people, including the homeowners," the affidavit reads. "(He) refused to leave and was observed by multiple witnesses shooting Fermin and Jacob. Witness accounts are corroborated by surveillance video. (Cummins) aggressively pursued Fermin and Jacob, who were clearly not a threat to him."
The Ramirez family told WFAA they plan to raise money to help with funeral costs.
