Suspect in Thursday's officer-involved shooting connected to double murder case in North Texas

"No matter what he is sentenced to, it won't bring our kids back! It won't fill the void of ever seeing them or hearing their voice," said one mother.

DALLAS — Dallas Police arrested a teenager involved in an officer-involved shooting this week who is also wanted on two capital murder warrants from an incident four months ago.

According to police, Deantae Moore, 19, was arrested Thursday outside a Northeast Dallas apartment complex after officers tried to stop a red truck that had been flagged as stolen.

Moore was arrested along with two others in Thursday's incident. A fourth suspect is not currently in custody.

The mothers of Camren Stacy and Kamari Smith-Capps have been waiting four months for any developments in their kids' cases. Stacy and Smith-Capps, both 18 years old and best friends, were shot and killed in the 3800 block of Dixon Avenue on March 22 of this year. Police believe both were shot in their vehicle while in the parking lot.

"It's been a living nightmare, my absolute worst nightmare. This is not a wound that time will heal," said the mother of Kamari Smith-Capps. Both mothers decided to not share their identity with WFAA. The interviews were organized through the No More Violence organization.

The mothers told WFAA they got a phone call from a Dallas police detective on Thursday alerting them to the arrest of one of the suspects in the double murder. They were encouraged by the development and are hopeful for another arrest to follow.

"No matter what he is sentenced to, it won't bring our kids back! It won't fill the void of ever seeing them or hearing their voice," said one mother. "The damage he caused over nothing -- pride and ego," she said.

These mothers are now bonded in tragedy and together they will now seek justice.

"I couldn't do this without her. We're one step closer," she said.
