More details released after police shot a person in stolen vehicle at North Dallas apartment complex, arrested three

Police are still looking for a fourth person who fled the scene, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said.

DALLAS — Officers shot one person in a vehicle that'd been reported stolen after the driver rammed into two squad cars at a North Dallas area apartment complex Thursday and two others were taken into custody, police said.

One of the suspects, identified by police Friday as Deantae Moore, 19, was wanted on a murder warrant out of Dallas and officers are still looking for a fourth person who fled the scene, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said in a news conference.

Damon Price, 21, was arrested on complaints of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, two counts of aggravated assault of a public servant, evading detention on foot, and a probation violation for manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance, police say.

The third person, 17-year-old Eric Lampkin-Scarborough, remains hospitalized in stable condition, police say. He's expected to be charged with prohibited weapon and evading detention on foot, according to police.

Undercover officers began tracking the stolen vehicle to the apartment complex in the 9600 block of Golf Lakes Trail off Walnut Hill Lane and U.S. 75 shortly before 1:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The officers found the vehicle in a carport at the apartment complex with four people inside and called for uniformed officers, Chief Garcia said.

When the driver of the vehicle saw the squad car, they accelerated and rammed into two marked squad cars, police say. WFAA helicopter footage showed a GMC truck in front of a crashed police cruiser at the scene.

Uniformed officers fired shorts and hit a man, who was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive, Garcia said.  Two other suspects were taken into custody at the scene, and one who was injured was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, police say.

A preliminary investigation determined the suspects were armed and three weapons were found at the scene, according to police.

The fourth person fled the scene and was not arrested, police say.

Moore was wanted for murder in connection with a deadly double shooting in March, in which 18-year-old Camren Stacy and Kamari Smith-Capps were found fatally shot outside a vehicle in the 3800 block of Dixon Avenue in Dallas, according to police.

Garcia said more information about the July 25 incident will be released at a briefing at a later time. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
