DALLAS — Editor's note: DPD sent a correction concerning the hit-and-run on Clover Haven. DPD confirmed with WFAA that the pictured vehicle the department originally sent was not involved in the crash. But the driver involved has been identified.
The Dallas Police Department (DPD) is investigating two separate hit-and-run incidents that seriously injured a 10-year-old and 13-year-old.
The first incident took place at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18 in the 3800 block of Hammerly Drive. DPD said the investigation determined that a driver struck a 10-year-old boy who was riding on a moped and then fled the scene southbound on Hammerly.
Police said the boy, who has not been identified, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The suspect vehicle is described as an SUV. It’s pictured below:
The second incident took place at about 3:40 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30. DPD said officers responded to the 5100 block of Clover Haven Street.
Police said a vehicle was exiting an alleyway and hit the 13-year-old boy while he was on a go-kart. The suspect then reportedly backed down the alley and left the scene.
Police said the boy was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. His name has not been released at this time.
On Wednesday, Nov. 1, DPD confirmed with WFAA that the involved driver had been identified but no charges have been filed at this time.
In both cases, the Dallas Police Department’s Vehicle Crimes Unit is asking anyone with information to contact Detective E. Knight at 214-671-0020 or by email at Eric.Knight@Dallaspolice.gov. Reference case No. 193664-2023.
These reports come after a similar incident involving a child took place on Oct. 16. Police said officers were called to the 7600 block of LBJ Freeway Service Road, where driver struck and killed a 7-year-old girl and left the scene without helping the victim.
DPD are still searching for the suspect/suspect vehicle in this case too. The vehicle is described as a 2007-2014 Cadillac Escalade or similar vehicle. The color is unknown. Police said the vehicle should have damage on the front right side and have a missing right headlight.
