DALLAS — The 2023 BMW Dallas Marathon has drawn thousands of runners and spectators to downtown Dallas this weekend. (For information about street closures downtown, click here.)
More than 12,800 runners showed up to participate in the Friday Night Lights event, followed by Saturday’s 10K, 5K, 5K team, 5K walk, 100-meter dash and the Oncor kid’s race.
“The BMW Dallas Marathon Festival is proud to offer a variety of races that appeal to those of all ages and fitness levels,” said Charles Peyton, runDallas chairman. “We always have a great lineup of family-inclusive races that create a challenging and fun experience for everyone.”
Marathon Winners
Joe Hale, 30, of Dallas, took for first for a second time after first winning in 2021 with a time of 2:24.
Jillian Wolf, 31, of Dallas was the women's first place finisher, completing the marathon at a time of 2:51.
Brian Goldsmith, 37, of Las Colinas, broke a Guinness World Record time, pending verification, for running a full marathon in football gear. His time was 3:29.
Half Marathon Winners
Mitch Ammons 34, of Austin took first place with a time of 1:07.
Mimi Smith, 26, of Dallas took women's first place for a second year in a row, this time finishing with a time of 1:15.
Ultramarathon Winners
Calum Neff, 39, of Fulshear took men's first place overall with a time of 2:58.
Kristi Coleman, 38, of Yukon, Okla. took women's first place with a time of 3:41.
10K Winners
Michael Trese, 27, of Irving, took first place for men in the 10K. Luciana Bartholomew, 42, of Aledo, took first place in the women’s 10K race.
10K Wheelchair Winners
Ryan Davis, 14, of Waskom placed first for men in the 5K Wheelchair division. Heather Sealover, 36, from Bossier City, Louisiana, crossed the finish line first for women.
5K Winners
Eli Mcward, 17, of Prosper, placed first for men in the 5K. Rena Elmer, 41, of Flower Mound, Texas, took first place among the women running the 5K.
Kids’ Races
More than 6,000 children of all ages participated in the marathon’s annual line-up of races, including the 100M Dash and the Oncor Kid’s Race.
Oncor Kids Race Winners
Josh Hernandez, 17, a senior at Skyline High School in Dallas, placed first for the overall boy’s winner of the race. Also, a senior at Skyline High School, Stefanny Sanchez, 17, took first place for the overall girl’s winner.
Friday Night Lights Mile
More than 850 participants participated in the Friday Night Lights Mile race around Dallas City Hall plaza Dec. 8 which offered eight different heats for seniors, kids, elite runners, walkers, and even those in costume. The elite heat wrapped up the evening, with the winner running the 1-mile course in just under 5 minutes.
