Traffic Alert: Street closures for the 2023 BMW Dallas Marathon

The annual race runs Dec. 8-10 and will close streets in downtown Dallas

DALLAS — Runners will take to the streets of Downtown Dallas this weekend for the annual BMW Dallas Marathon.
The BMW Dallas Marathon is a nonprofit focused on promoting health and fitness. Founded in 1971, the event has become Dallas’ largest and Texas’ longest-running marathon. The marathon runs Dec. 8-10, and street closures have already started.

Street closures for event setup through Dec. 12 

  • Marilla Street from Young Street to Ervay Street until 6 a.m. Dec. 12.
  • Browder Street from Young Street to Horseshoe lot until 6 a.m. Dec. 12.
  • The northbound lanes of Akard Street from Canton Street to Marilla Street until 3:30 p.m. Dec. 9
  • A northbound lane of Akard Street from Marilla Street to Young Street until 6 a.m. Dec. 12.
  • The city hall horseshoe from the Akard Street entrance to the Browder Street exit until 6 p.m. Dec. 10.
  • The Young Street entrance of the city hall garage until 6 a.m. Dec. 11.
  • Field Street from the DFCU dock to Young Street until 3:30 p.m. Dec. 9.

  • 10K begins at 8:30 a.m.
  • 5K/5K team begins at 8:45 a.m.
  • 5K walk begins at 8:50 a.m.
  • Kid’s 100-meter dash begins at 10:15 a.m.
  • Oncor kid’s race begins at 11 a.m.

Sunday

Sunday features a full marathon, half marathon, half marathon walk, and a 50K ultra marathon, as well as the Shell Energy relays. Races begin between 8:30 and 9 a.m.

Health and Fitness Expo

The annual expo runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. It’s also an official packet pick-up location for race participants.

Beneficiary

Since naming a primary beneficiary in 1997, the BMW Dallas Marathon Festival has donated more than $4 million to Scottish Rite for Children, according to the event website.
