DALLAS — For many parents, celebrating their baby’s first Fourth of July means watching fireworks or going to a barbecue. But that’s not possible for families with an infant in the NICU, or neonatal intensive care unit.

So instead, Texas Health and Baylor Scott & White Health hospitals brought the July 4 celebrations to them.

These patriotic preemies are shining like a bright light in the hospital halls, wearing their red, white and blue outfits.

This year, participating hospitals included:

  • Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital
  • Texas Health Southwest Fort Worth
  • Texas Health Frisco
  • Texas Health Plano
  • Baylor Scott & White Health (statewide locations)

Stars, stripes, and hopefully not too many sleepless nights for these new families," Baylor Scott & White Health said in a statement.

"The care teams go above and beyond their regular duties for holiday photos demonstrating their commitment to providing exceptional care and support to both the babies and their families," Texas Health said in a statement.

Here's a look at the photo-op shared with WFAA.
