Friday the 13th, Monster Jam, Black on the Block and more: Things to do in DFW this weekend

Cool fall weather's coming JUST in time for spooky season.

DALLAS — I don't know which spooky scary skeleton's going to send more shivers down our spines this weekend: Friday the 13th or the cooler temps coming our way.

There's also the annular solar eclipses happening on Saturday, so this weekend might be the spookiest one we get until Halloween weekend.

If that's not your thing ... it's not my thing either, so I've got you covered 😅.

Here's a look at what's happening this weekend.

Friday, Oct. 13

Friday the 13th

Nothing starts off a great weekend like bad luck, am I right?

According to History.com, superstitions to the number 13 go as far back as the Last Supper and it's pretty much only a phenomenon in the Western hemisphere of the world.

With a Friday the 13th happening in October, North Texans are definitely taking advantage of it. Here's what we've heard about + a few Halloween-related events:

Other events

Saturday, Oct. 14

Monster Jam (Arlington)

Need I say more? When you think "monster trucks," it's safe to say you think of "Monster Jam."

In addition to the competitive side of Monster Jam, you can check out the Pit Party at 2:30 p.m. to see the trucks up close and meet the drivers and crews.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., then the competition begins at 7:00 p.m.

Including fees, tickets are expected to start at about $70 for attendees 2 years old and up.

Sunday, Oct. 15

Black on the Block (Frisco)

Black on the Block's been to North Texas before, and they're coming back again.

They're featuring over 100 Black-owned businesses to check out. That includes fashion, food, drinks and more.

There will also be live music.

Tickets are expected to start at about $15, but you'll have to get them through the Black on the Block app. Kids 12 and under get in for free.

Black on the Block Texas Festival is headed BACK to The Dallas/Fort Worth Area even bigger and better than ever on...
