Things to do in Dallas-Fort Worth this weekend: Music, BBQ, comedy and more

My hope is for you to kick off the new week with laughter, new music to check out, and a stomach full of barbecue.

DALLAS — Between Friday the 13th and the annular eclipse last weekend + Halloween events next weekend, let's take a little breather from the thrills and chills in North Texas.

Especially since we're planning on putting out a 5-day list of events for Hallo-weekend (if you know about anything, see the email below).

Weather-wise, each day looks like it'll start off cool before rising toward 90 degrees. Keep that in mind as you plan your weekend.

Here's a look at what's going down in North Texas.

Friday, Oct. 20

HWY30 Music Fest: Texas Edition (Fort Worth, all weekend)

Gordy's HWY30 Music Fest will be taking over Texas Motor Speedway starting on Thursday.

Each day has its own lineup of artists performing between 11:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m.

For Thursday, the roster includes Ashley McBryde and Dierks Bentley. Other big names for the weekend include Zach Bryan, Koe Wetzel, and Diplo Presents: Thomas Wesley.

Ticket prices vary depending on when you want to go. Starting price is about $110.

Troubadour Festival (Celina)

What's more Texan than a day dedicated to country music and barbecue? (If you're listing other things, respectfully, knock it off.)

The Troubadour Festival - a literal "Texas BBQ & Music Experience" - is going down at Old Celina Park.

For the music, musicians like Chris Young, Kevin Fowler, and the Squeezebox Bandits will be among others taking the stage. There will be a DJ to keep the party going between each set.

The lineup for BBQ includes joints from in and outside of Texas. The list includes Heim (Fort Worth), Hurtado (Arlington), Hutchins (McKinney and Frisco), Meat Church, and Lockhart Smokehouse (Dallas, Plano, Arlington).

Tickets are available starting at $60. If you see this before midnight Wednesday night, use the code "SMOKE20" to get 20% off of your ticket.

One of the biggest compliments we get about Troubadour Festival is the vibe. We couldn't tell you how many times we've...
