Films, gelato and more. So What!? Things to do in DFW this weekend

Whatever you decide to do, be sure to take care of yourself in this heat.

DALLAS — Y'all, let's honest. I'm not going to list out all of these events without mentioning the extreme heat we've been dealing with this week.

The sun's not stopping North Texans from hosting and attending events. So whatever you decide to do, please take care of yourselves and try to keep cool.

With that in mind, here's what happening this weekend:

Friday, June 23

Oak Cliff Film Festival (Dallas, all weekend)

Join the Oak Cliff Film Society for it's 11th annual film festival.

Since 2012, the festival has been celebrating the flair of its birthplace and a diverse lineup of films and events created by and for film lovers. That includes not only screenings of independent films, but also workshops for filmmakers, a skateboarding workshop, and after parties.

The OCFF has been recognized nationally by The New York Times, Filmmaker Magazine, and Moviemaker Magazine as a festival that encouraged filmmaking in Dallas and beyond.

The festival kicked off Thursday night, so check out the schedule and start planning!

Still wondering what the soup tastes like at #OCFF2023? Here’s what it a little nibble of last year’s ambience. Produced in-house by our very own Ashton Campbell Soup’s On! June 22-25.

So What?! Music Festival (Dallas, Sat. and Sun.)

Headbangers, ragers, moshers, emo kids, e-boys/girls, etc., rejoice! The So What?! Music Festival is taking over Fair Park in Dallas.

A few big names are taking the stage; we're talking Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, and Neck Deep.

But take some time to check out some Texas-based bands like Alpha Virus, Chancla Fight Club, and I Am Destruction. They're actually selling discounted tickets!

The park will also be full of bars, vendors, merch, and free water (gotta stay hydrated while you're moshing)!

Can't make it to the festival? Try making an afterparty or two, including the Emo Nite parties happening every night this weekend
