Relatives of a murdered young mother are furious that the justice system lost track of her alleged killer, after letting him out on bond - twice.
He's back in jail, but with a lot of questions about who apparently dropped the ball.
Ronald Neal is accused of shooting his wife and shooting at Arlington police, while she bled to death last June.
Neal already had a history of drug and assault charges, and his wife Styvonne had just filed for divorce.
A judge set Neal's bond at $750,000.
"He has a rapsheet that could only please the devil," said Sonia.
So, two months ago, the victim's family was terrified when bond got reduced to $125,000, and Ronald Neal was allowed to go home with an ankle monitor.
His former sister-in-law says she feared for her life.
"Immediately, the family goes into crisis mode," said Sonia.
This week, their nightmare seemed to come true, when county authorities warned them they'd lost track of Neal, after letting him drive to Waco.
What no one knew is that Waco police had arrested him for drug possession.
But a magistrate there set bond at just $20,000 and immediately set him free again, even though Neal was wearing an ankle monitor and even though he admitted he was on bond for murder.
The judge says no one told him.
"And they still allowed him to post bail? That's upsetting," said Sonia.
Styvonne Neal's relatives aren't the only ones frustrated.
So are Arlington police.
"We feel like the best place for him until he gets his day in court is in jail for the public good," said Lt. Blake Miller.
Ronald Neal is back in jail.
To everyone's relief, he drove back to Fort Worth and surrendered.
At this point, he's being held without bond.
