Why is the Cowboys-Steelers game delayed? A look at why fans waited over an hour for kickoff

A thunderstorm rolled through Pittsburgh and delayed kickoff for the match between the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

PITTSBURGH — It was a later start than expected as Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys traveled to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers.

Per the NFL, the game at Acrisure Stadium was delayed due to inclement weather. The game was initially set to start at 7:20 p.m. CT, but with lightning in the area, the stadium announced it was delaying kickoff.

The game was instead kicked off at 8:45 p.m., and players and fans were able to return to the field around 8:25 p.m.

Severe thunderstorms and lightning are in the area, so players were sent off the field and fans were asked to take cover before the original kickoff time.

WFAA's Jonah Javad is in Pittsburgh and captured video of the rain coming down. For one Pittsburgh fan, the rain didn't really bother them!
