FLORIDA, USA — On Sunday morning, an area of thunderstorms near Cancun, Mexico became organized enough to become Tropical Storm Idalia (pronounced ee-DAL-ya).
All signs point to this depression strengthening into a hurricane this week -- and making landfall in Florida.
The current forecast track has storm strengthening into a hurricane Idalia on Tuesday.
At this time, the expectation is for a landfalling Category 2 hurricane early Wednesday.
Heavy rain and strong winds are guaranteed for parts of Florida with the threat for flooding from rainfall and coastal flooding due to storm surge as well.
Of course, this tropical system will undergo a lot of changes in the days to come, so be sure to check back for the latest.
