Summer-like Wednesday sets record high temperature

It feels like summer out there.

Mother Nature is turning up the heat. A record high was set Wednesday at DFW Airport with a high temperature of 97.

The previous record was 93 degrees in 1991.

Wednesday is expected to be the hottest day of the week. Temperatures are expected to drop before the weekend.

North Texans may want to head to their local park to enjoy the sunny weather, but remember to practice social distancing.

Some city parks are still available for use, as long as you stay at least 6 feet apart. Structures that draw crowds, like basketball courts, dog parks and playground sets, may be closed.

Here are more details about which parks and trails are open.

This weekend, however, many parks will be closed to prevent people from gathering for Easter. The closures are to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Record high, followed by cooldown

Much cooler weather is on the way. Next week, temperatures will barely reach the low 70s.

D-FW could see isolated and scattered storms for Thursday and Friday. A better chance for rain on Saturday through early Sunday.

Even cooler high temperatures are expected early next week.
