Heavy rain impacts traffic, flights in North Texas

A Flash Flood Warning was in effect in DFW until 7 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26.

DALLAS — Several roads have been closed, flights have been changed and there's overflow in Fort Worth after a night and early morning of Flash Flood Warnings across Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, Parker and Johnson counties.

Road Closures

The city of Fort Worth says Trinity Boulevard and the area are blocked off due to flooding. The road will remain closed from the new roundabout to River Lakes Dr. The contractor and the city of Fort Worth's Transportation and Public Works Department will monitor the flooding and remove the barricades once there is no danger of subsequent flooding, possibly through Monday, Oct. 30 or Tuesday, Oct. 31. 

Water Outflows

Also, Thursday morning, the Trinity River Authority Central Regional Wastewater System treatment plant experienced four outflows in its collection system; the outflows, which started at 10:45 a.m., occurred in the vicinity of 2221 East Highway 356, near Trinity View Park in Irving. The outflows will not affect service to any of the facility’s customers.

Water Rescues 

The McKinney Fire Department (MFD) said in total, it responded to four water rescue calls early Thursday morning. In each instance, the MFD’s Technical Rescue Teams were able to bring the trapped people to safety. Read more here

Flight Cancellations/Delays

Thursday morning, DFW Airport led the country in cancellations and delays due to severe weather.

According to Flight Aware, the rain is mainly affected flights coming into DFW.
