Flooding at Rockwall Lake has spurred the evacuation of homes Thursday in the 500 to 700 block of Lakeside Drive.
Rockwall firefighters have been assisting residents during the evacuation.
Water could be seen pouring into the living room of several homes as people were forced to find shelter from the water. Crews shut down power to several blocks in the affected area.
Rockwall Lake is a small body of water not connected to Lake Ray Hubbard. Residents tell WFAA, this area normally does not flood.
Emergency crews have remained on the scene and have checked for residents or animals left behind. Displaced residents were given vouchers to help find a place to stay.
Light rain is expected to continue to fall in the area throughout the night and pick up into a heavier fall Friday morning.
