DALLAS — Hurricane Oscar formed off the coast of the Bahamas on Saturday near Turks and Caicos and the southeastern Bahamas.
Cuba is under a hurricane watch for the provinces of Guantanamo, Holguin, and Las Tunas.
This is a rather small hurricane and will have NO impact on the U.S. Mainland, but will bring heavy rain, wind, and wave to parts of Cuba, The Bahamas, and Turks and Caicos.
Here's where it's headed:
Oscar will move over southern Cuba before looping over the Bahamas this week. The storm will then dissipate or slowly move out into the open Atlantic mid to late week.
2024 Hurricane Season
Oscar is the 15th named storm this hurricane season and the 10th hurricane. Even though hurricane season runs through the end of November, tropical activity really starts to drop off the rest of October and especially through November. While storms are certainly possible, the threat for storms and U.S. landfalls decreases.
