DALLAS — We’ve needed a widespread, soaking rain for quite some time to put a dent in the drought. Thursday looks like the day for it!
By the time all is said and done, we’re expecting a widespread 1 to 3 inches of rain across much of North Texas.
Afternoon:
Rain coverage has substantially increased with the approach of the cold front. Some of the rain could be heavy at times especially this afternoon into the evening.
Evening commute:
We expect the peak of rain coverage to be during the evening commute Thursday. Some of that rain will be heavy, and there’s a very low chance for severe weather. This will be absolutely nothing like Sunday. A few thunderstorms with gusty winds and some hail are possible mainly south of I-20.
Showers and storms will become less numerous late Thursday into Friday, but the rain won’t be completely done. A little bit of wraparound moisture is expected for the Friday morning commute as well. This will come in the form of scattered showers and a much cooler day. Highs Friday will be in the 50s across the area.
